Blogger- Change landing page

Ever wanted to change your landing page? Make a welcome page? or completely hide your original home/landing page? In this Blogger tutorial I will show you how to change the landing page of your blogspot page and make a substitute for the original landing page which shows all your new posts.

1. First you need to make a page. This will act as the substitute of your landing page. To add page. click pages on the left corner of the blogger dashboard. Then, click new pages, and select blank page.

Name your landing page and put a content. Then Publish it.

This will then show up as one of your pages on the pages area.

2. Redirect landing page to your new page of choice.

Click Settings, Search preference. Then click edit after the word Custom Redirects no item.

Write slash [/] inside the From Box. This is your current home/landing page.

Then on the to: type the url of the page you would like to be the landing page or Copy the section after your blogspot page.

In this example my new landing page is “http://exampleforblogspot.blogspot.com/p/landing-page.html” copy the part after the blogspot.com starting with the slash.

 

Then paste into the empty box on the To: [/p/landing-page.html]

Check the Permanent box. Then Save.

Then save changes.

Now every time anyone will open your blogspot, it will redirect to the page you have set it to.

The problem now, is that whenever you click the Home page, it will always go back to the page you redirected it to.

Solution:

A. Remove the default home page.

B. Make a substitute for the default Home page. Why? Because the default home page shows all the new posts. ( you can skip this if you do not wish to have this feature).

A. To remove the default home page, just follow this simple steps.

Step 1

Click Layout. Then on the Pages gadget click Edit (this will open a Configure page list window).

Step 2

In Configue Page List. Uncheck the check box of the default home page under Pages to show list. Then Click Save.

After saving when you view your blog. the Home page is now hidden/missing.

B. Steps to making a page that will substitute as your default home page / show all your new posts.

Step 1

Click Pages, New Pages. Then select Web address.

Step 2

Enter page name. Then inside web address (URL) write down your default blogspot page. example: http://exampleforblogspot.blogspot.com. then enter /index.html after the blogspot URL. Then Click Save.

You now have a new page that will show all the new posts you have made on your blog.
